Favorite story from my days at Douglas Freeman:
Slept through two years of Spanish 1. Mrs. Castro was my teacher. She left me alone and never called on me... except the day we had this Erik Estrada look-alike foreign exchange student from Spain. Each of us were supposed to have a question to ask him in Spanish. She called on me first. The question that came to me was "Quantas familias viven en su casa?" (How many families live in your house?" I don't think she ever called on me again.
Went from Slow Class to Honors English - Mr. McNally. Turns out he was a pedophile. (I was NOT a victim.)
Fondly remember Principal Mears "It has been brought to my attention..." Also Vice Principal Mr. Anthony. He was a very decent fellow. Mrs. Culpepper and Mrs. Pilkington also.
Dropped out in 1968. Entered USAF during Vietnam War in 1969.
