Dudley (DW) and I were good friends through church (Derbyshire), school, and work at Mallory Coal and Fuel Oil. He was a quiet guy who always was willing to help. Had many adventures in his 1960 Scout. Sorry I couldn't have talked to him before he passed. I miss those old times.
You are right, Frank ... I also remember Dudley from our Derbyshire days. His wife, Mary Vanaman, was one of my best friends at Derbyshire as well as a member of our Class of ‘69 at Freeman. Dudley’s sister, Lynn, was also a Freeman graduate before us. Dudley was one sweet person and I’m sorry to hear of his much-to-early demise.
Myra, I went to the service and talked briefly to Mary and his younger brother Ted, and saw Lynn. Mary did the eulogy. A great job. He suffered from depression and dementia late in life. It was a sad situation, but Mary did a wonderful job telling about all the good times.
